Searching Cases by Name
A name is only a starting point. New Mexico Case Lookup is the public, no-registration route the Judiciary describes for case summaries in supported appellate, district, magistrate, Metro, and municipal matters. Narrow any De Baca County name search by county, court level, filing year, and case category. That matters here. A common De Baca County surname alone can return several records, or none at all, thanks to spelling differences, an alias, a restriction, or an indexing limit.
- Identify the likely De Baca court: district, magistrate, or Fort Sumner municipal court.
- Begin with the name as it appears on a court notice, then add a location, year, category, or case type if the tool permits.
- Compare the case number, court location, case title, filed date, and status before treating a result as the intended case.
- Open the public case details or register view only to learn the available procedural information and hearing history.
- Use the clerk or a specific Judiciary request if the result is unclear, absent, or an underlying document is required.
A name match is not a conviction, an outcome, or the whole file. The charge, the disposition, and any public final order are each separate pieces of a De Baca County court record. Even a case result you pull may show only a redacted public view.
De Baca Case Search Fields
re:SearchNM is the registered-user layer that New Mexico Courts describes. Its Quick Search takes a keyword tied to a case number, party, attorney, attorney number, or location. The documented Search By choices are Cases, Hearings, Filings, and Text in Docs. Pick the search job before typing terms. A hearing search is not a filing search. A document row can still carry security limits even after it appears.
| Search job | Documented fields or use |
|---|---|
| Cases | Case number, party, attorney, attorney number, location, category, type, status, and date-related filters. |
| Hearings | Hearing date and type, case number, status, type, judge, location, party, attorney, and case description. |
| Filings | Category, case-filed date, case type, filing code, filing-code date, and location. |
| Keyword tools | Exact quotes, AND, OR, NOT, an end-of-word * wildcard, and proximity quotes with ~n. |
Apply and Clear manage the filters. The guide also covers Expanded View and Table View for results. Dashes, capitalization, and leading zeros are not required in keyword examples, per the court's guidance, but keeping the full De Baca County local number is still the surest way to cut ambiguity. New Mexico dataXchange is an official justice-data catalog and visualization platform. It is not the everyday individual De Baca case-search portal.
That distinction matters. A statewide data resource cannot replace Case Lookup, re:SearchNM, or a records request to the local court custodian.
Searching by Case Number
A full case number beats a name almost every time. The Judiciary's incarcerated-request form lists D-1027 as the De Baca district location prefix. It lists M-13 as the De Baca magistrate prefix. Examples can carry a year and case-type segment. So keep every part shown on the notice rather than swapping the local prefix for a generic New Mexico one. The number also helps the clerk tell a De Baca file from another county in the Tenth Judicial District.
Enter the full number in Case Lookup or re:SearchNM where the service allows it. If the De Baca County number is incomplete, run the known prefix with the year, location, court category, and a narrow name term. For a Fort Sumner municipal matter, the state system's municipal display has documented limits. So the municipal-court/village channel is often the right follow-up.
De Baca Case Numbers Beat Names
A De Baca County name search can help. But it can attach an unrelated person to a court record or miss a case filed under a different spelling. The local prefix tells you which state-court level is involved. A district prefix does not mean the case began in district court. And a magistrate prefix says nothing about the outcome. It is simply a better locator than a common surname.
Keep the number, court location, and filed date together as a set. With those three, the De Baca clerk can find a register of actions, a hearing entry, a final judgment, or another defined record. The same details make an IPRA request specific enough that the custodian can identify the material without fishing through a broad collection of records about a person.
What a Case Search Returns
Public De Baca County results can identify a case and its procedural record. But they are not certified copies. The re:SearchNM user guide lists case title, number, location, type, parties, attorneys, judicial officer, and filed date. Case Details can add a category such as Civil, Criminal, Family, Probate, or Mental Health. It may also list a case description, judge, and interim conditions. Related-case rows may show a date, number, style, location, type, and related reason.
| Case identity | Case title, case number, court location, category, type, and date filed. |
|---|---|
| People and court role | Parties, attorneys, and judicial officer where the public result displays them. |
| Register activity | Dated docket entries, events, hearings, and filings that describe procedural activity. |
| Criminal detail | Charge sequence, offense date, description, statute, degree, and disposition, with up to ten charges shown at one time in the guide. |
| Document status | Filing date, event, type, summary, pages, comments, and document-security status when available to the user. |
A register entry can prove an order or filing exists without handing you the document itself. Document links depend on rights and security. For a public copy that is not online, a court record request may be required.
De Baca Case Result Security
Document security still applies after a De Baca County case result appears on screen. The re:SearchNM guide keeps case details, hearing information, filing rows, and documents separate. A filing row may show a date, type, summary, page count, and security status. The document itself stays locked. The New Mexico Case Access Policy reaches the same place from the other side. Online document access there depends on redaction, digitization, and who the user is. A party or attorney with permission to open a document does not thereby open it to the public.
When a De Baca County public record will not download, ask the De Baca clerk about it. Ask whether a redacted inspection or a copy can be provided. Guessing at a hidden document from a case title, a person's name, or a security label is not research. It is just a guess.
De Baca Case Lookup CAPTCHA Limit
The live Case Lookup page sits behind a CAPTCHA and a JavaScript challenge that asks for an image code. Nothing here describes its current input layout. That guard does not demote the service. Case Lookup remains an official route, and the Judiciary's public-access instructions spell out its court coverage and how the public reaches case summaries through it. A failed attempt calls for a legitimate fallback. It is not a reason to leap to the conclusion that no case exists.
Retry later if the service is down. For a district case, contact the De Baca District Court Clerk's Office at 575-355-2896 or tenthjdcpublic@nmcourts.gov. For a magistrate case, use the De Baca County Magistrate Court Clerk's Office at 575-355-7371 or fsum-grp@nmcourts.gov. When a De Baca County record falls outside online coverage, a specific Judiciary IPRA request is the documented route. Keep one more thing in mind. The Administrative Office of the Courts does not hold local De Baca County case files.
Statewide vs County Case Search
Each route answers a different question about De Baca County court records. The De Baca County District hearing page gives you the current short calendar. Case Lookup supplies a public case summary. re:SearchNM serves registered users who need to search cases, hearings, filings, and access-controlled documents. For inspection, copies, missing online material, or confirmation, the local clerk is the route. Two cautions travel with all of it. A calendar entry is not a complete case history. A statewide result is not a certified disposition.
| Route | Best use and limit |
|---|---|
| De Baca District calendar | Near-term district hearings for the current day plus six following days; not a full historical docket. |
| Case Lookup | Public case-summary route for supported courts; the live service was CAPTCHA-guarded during review and has listed exclusions. |
| re:SearchNM | Registered access to documented case, hearing, filing, and document fields, subject to role and security. |
| Local clerk or IPRA | Defined record request, court confirmation, public inspection, or a route when online access is absent or limited. |

Match the route to the court and the record type. Treating every New Mexico court result as a De Baca County case is the fastest way to go wrong.
De Baca Case Hearing and Filing Searches
A hearing search answers when and where an event is set. A filing search answers whether a document-related entry was recorded. In re:SearchNM, the advanced hearing fields cover attorney name, CAID number, case category, description, filed date, number, status, type, hearing date, hearing type, judge, location, and party name. Sorting works by case number, date and time, defendant name, hearing type, judicial officer, or plaintiff name.
Filing searches run narrower. The fields are category, case filing date, case type, filing code, filing-code date, and location. A document in a filing result may show event, date, type, summary, name, comments, pages, and document security. It may still not be a public download. Active links depend on the document's security and the user's access level.
The Tenth Judicial District home page is the official starting point. It covers the local court and its De Baca County docket information.
Confirm hearing listings through the local court contact. The same applies when a filing result has no public document link.
Access and Restricted Cases
Public access does not put every court case or document on a screen. Under New Mexico's public-access instructions, Case Lookup excludes juvenile criminal cases effective July 1, 2007. It also excludes Family Violence Protection Act order-of-protection cases effective July 1, 2008. The instructions strip PII such as Social Security numbers and addresses. They also limit municipal information. A public municipal display is therefore not a complete Fort Sumner ordinance docket.
Rule 1-079 NMRA presumes public access to court records. The presumption holds unless a record is sealed or otherwise protected, while still shielding specified personal identifiers. Rule 1-079.1 NMRA gives extra protection to guardianship and conservatorship material. A register of actions can be treated differently from medical or psychological information under that rule. A missing result may be sealed, confidential, redacted, not digitized, or simply excluded from one public interface.
De Baca Case Search No-Result Steps
Do not decide a De Baca County case is unavailable too fast. First check the court level, the spelling, the case prefix, and the approximate filing date. A no-result can hide a pre-1997 record, a municipal coverage gap, a protected category, a wrong court location, or an unindexed docket entry. Ask the proper clerk for the public or redacted register of actions. Do not ask for protected medical or identifying information. A good request names the court, the case number if known, the date range, the document or event sought, and the preferred format.

A court name or judge field can help pinpoint the right setting. For a specific case record or current calendar confirmation, the local clerk remains the source.
